Best Things To Do

Houston has one of the most outstanding museum districts in the nation. The museum district consists of 19 museums which is one of Houston’s greatest cultural assets. You can practically spend your whole day visiting museums and never get bored from all the different sites you will visit and see. Some of our favorite museums include The Menil Collection and The Museum of Fine Arts, The Holocaust Museum, The Art Car Museum, and the Museum of Natural Science. There is so much history to learn and beautiful sites to see in one of the many museums provided in the Houston area.

Shopping, shopping, and more shopping! Houston has some of the best shopping from malls to small boutiques owned by local residents. The Galleria is home to over 400 stores including Chanel, Gucci, Burberry and many more. The Memorial City Mall is one of the largest malls in Texas, spanning 11 miles, which includes stores like Coach, Ann Taylor Loft, and even a Target. One of the most interesting places to shop is Montrose. The Houston neighborhood contains many small boutiques and vintage stores that have many unique pieces.

The Houston Murals is a fun activity to drive around and see the city while also visiting countless amounts of art made by Houston locals. The vibrant street art is located on the walls of yoga studios, parking lots, and so many more locations hiding in the city. The best place to start is in the heart of downtown Houston at the Houston Mural and make your way around the different streets to catch a glimpse of this magnificent art.

Dinning

As a foodie, I would like to exaggerate that Houston has some of the best restaurants. There is something for everyone and every type of food is represented in the area. Some of our favorite restaurants include: The Pit Room, a classic BBQ style restaurant on Montrose known for their black pepper sausage and cherry pie; Space Cowboy, the perfect summer restaurant located in the heights and has dishes like spam musubi, huli huli chicken, and octopus salad; Acme Oyster House, which brings a bit of New Orleans to Houston with its unique versions of oysters.;  Tonight & Tomorrow, bringing European dishes with a Houston twist to the table; and Gatsbys, where the luxury steakhouse brings the clubby, roaring 20’s vibes.

Nightlife

Houston may not be known for the nightlife but as the sun goes down people are ready to have a good time in one of the many neighborhoods of Houston. Washington Avenue provides a good place to have a chill night with the many wine and lowkey bars like Ei8ht and Roosevelt. The Downtown district is booming at night and provides many opportunities to let your wild side show. La Carafe offers a romantic setting in a historical hotel while Greenstreet offers an energetic crowd perfect for meeting others. Montrose is a great place to end the night with its unique bars and clubs that provide endless amounts of night time entertainment.

When you are in the Houston Area there is never a dull moment. Every minute is packed with the extraordinary sights and has the most interesting people to talk to. When considering traveling to Houston there is an overwhelming amount of activities to do, so let us take some of the stress and plan your trip. As Houston locals ourselves, we love planning trips in our favorite city, so let us plan your next adventure to Houston.
